Reversibility of hydrocortisone-effected regression of induced skin carcinomas in mice.

چکیده
In 1953 it was demonstrated by EngelbrethHolm and Asboe-Hansen (3) that intraperitoneal injection of cortisone markedly inhibits the devel opment of skin tumors and prolongs the latent period in ST/Eh mice painted once on the dorsum with 9,10-dimethyl-l,2-benzanthracene. In further experiments by Zachariae and AsboeHansen (4), hydrocortisone (17-hydroxycorticosterone) acetate, injected topically into the con nective tissue of fully developed precancerous skin papillomas induced as stated above, resulted in complete regression in 95 per cent of the males. In a control group of males injected with an isotonic saline solution, 48 per cent were tumorfree after 7 weeks' treatment. The corresponding

S100A9 aggravates bleomycin-induced dermal fibrosis in mice via activation of ERK1/2 MAPK and NF-κB pathways
Objective(s): This study aims to investigate the pathogenicity and possible mechanisms of S100A9 function in mice models of scleroderma. Materials and Methods: The content of S100A9 in the skin tissues of mice with scleroderma was determined. Different concentrations of bleomycin (BLM) and S100A9 were subcutaneously injected into the backs of mice simultaneously, and then pathological changes i...
متن کاملThe Therapeutic Effects of Quercetin in a Canine Model of Low-dose Lipopolysaccharide-Induced Sepsis Compared with Hydrocortisone
BACKGROUND: Canine low-dose sepsis model provides a reliable setting to study innovative drugs. Li- popolysaccharides (LPS), a major constituent of bacterial outer membrane, have been demonstrated to play a critical role in the initiation of pathogenesis. Lipopolysaccharide-induced sepsis has been extensively studied in laboratory animals; but its importance has mainly remained...
متن کاملStudy the Effect of Silymarin and Vitamin C in Skin Aging Induced by UVB Rays on the Mice Skin Redox System
Background: Exposure of the skin against occupational hazards is growing every day. Many scientists are trying to identify aspects about the mechanisms of damages done to the skin by them. The skin is the second metabolism organ of the body where redox-dependent metabolic pathways overcome. By considering the UV index, Iranians are at high risk of UVB damage by generation of reactive oxygen spe...
متن کاملMutations of p53 Gene in Skin Cancers: a Case Control Study
Background: The most frequently mutated tumor suppressor gene found in human cancer is p53. In a normal situation, p53 is activated upon the induction of DNA damage to either arrest the cell cycle or to induce apoptosis. However, when mutated, p53 is no longer able to properly accomplish these functions. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of p53 gene in cases of skin cancer...
متن کاملEfficacy of Topical Alpha Ointment (Containing Natural Henna) Compared to Topical Hydrocortisone (1%) in the Healing of Radiation-Induced Dermatitis in Patients with Breast Cancer: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
Background: This two-arm, randomized clinical study aimed to compare efficacy between topical Alpha ointment and topical hydrocortisone cream (1%) in the healing of radiation-induced dermatitis in breast cancer patients. Methods: The inclusion criteria comprised newly pathologically proven, locally advanced breast cancer (treated with modified radical mastectomy followed by sequential adjuvant ...
